WordPress is an open source content management system and the most popular way to create and host your own website, eCommerce store, or blog.

More Details

WordPress powers over 40% of all the websites on the internet. It has a huge community that offers thousands of themes and plugins, many for free.

With WordPress, you can start a blog, design a website for your small business, build a membership site, sell online courses, run an online marketplace, and basically do anything you can think of.

Note that two sites use the name WordPress: WordPress.org and WordPress.com.

WordPress.com is a service that helps you build a website using WordPress software with managed hosting (good for beginners), while WordPress.org is the source where you can download the software itself (completely for free), which you can use to build and maintain a website on your own.

Although WordPress.org may require a certain learning curve, it’s a much more powerful solution that doesn’t limit you on anything, provides advanced customization and monetization options, and gives you complete ownership of your site and the freedom to choose your server. Therefore, we strongly recommend using the .org version.
